Kelly Osbourne stuck her foot firmly in her mouth on Tuesday’s episode of “The View” when she made an unfortunate remark during a discussion on Donald Trump’s favorability among Latino voters.
“If you kick every Latino out of this country, who is going to be cleaning your toilet Donald Trump?” Osbourne said. Her statement was met with an awkward groan from Raven-Symone before co-host Rosie Perez said, “Latinos are not the only people doing that.”
Osbourne quickly back-pedaled, saying “I would never mean it like that. I’m not part of this argument.” Newly named co-host Michelle Colins jumped in to defend Osbourne, saying, “I think what you’re saying is that Trump himself relies a lot of these people he’s insulting.”
Perez tweeted an apology to Osbourne shortly after the show. “My apologies Kelly Osbourne, I took your point wrong-#Trump #Latinos. My bad. You’re heart is so pure & righteous. I adore you,” Perez wrote.
The comment came during a discussion on comments Trump made in which he claimed he would win the Latino vote despite calling Mexican immigrants “rapists” during his campaign announcement speech.
Perez cited a poll taken by Telemundo in which 75 percent of respondents said they had an unfavorable view of the candidate and former reality star, while 50 percent said they found his remarks offensive.
