“Twin Peaks” alum Joy Nash has been cast as the lead of AMC’s new drama series “Dietland” from “UnReal” co-creator Marti Noxon,” the network announced on Wednesday.

The series, described as “part-character drama and part-revenge fantasy,” is set against the backdrop of the beauty industry and explores society’s obsession with weight loss and beauty. Nash will star as Plum Kettle, who has been obese all her life and is preparing for lap band surgery when her world is upturned by two rival feminist factions.

Noxon, whose credits also include “Mad Men,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer, “Sharp Objects” and “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce” serves as executive producer, writer, showrunner and director of multiple episodes on “Dietland.”

“Joy is everything I hoped we’d find in our leading woman — beautiful, smart and blazing with talent,” Noxon said in a statement. “When she auditioned the whole room was electrified. I can’t wait for the world to meet her ‘Plum.’”

The series is a co-production between AMC Studios and Skydance Television. Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross are executive producers, along with Maria Grasso of Tiny Pyro, Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn of Mockingbird Pictures and Jackie Hoyt.

Nash is represented by BMG Model and Talent.
