Joseph Kosinski Attached to Direct Next ‘Tron’ Film for Disney

Director helmed “Tron: Legacy” starring Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde for the studio in 2010

The next chapter of the “Tron” franchise is in the works and “Tron: Legacy” director Joseph Kosinski is attached to return in that capacity, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

The project is in development. Justin Springer will produce.

Kosinski directed “Tron: Legacy” for the studio in 2010. That film starred Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde and Jeff Bridges, who reprised his role from the 1982 original “Tron” film.

“Tron: Legacy” followed Hedlund’s Sam Flynn, son of Bridges’ Kevin Flynn, who finds himself drawn into the same cyber universe in which his absent father has been trapped for 20 years.

Kosinski, who last directed the Tom Cruise-led sci-fi epic “Oblivion,” is also attached to direct drug cartel drama “The Trials of White Boy Rick” for Universal, and is represented by CAA. He is also repped by attorney David Matlof of Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof & Fishman, LLP.
