John Singleton‘s BET drama series “Rebel” has added Angel Parker to the cast, TheWrap has learned exclusively.
“Rebel” follows Oakland police officer Rebecca “Rebel” Cole, who has always excelled by playing by the rules. She has always known that she must be better and smarter on the job because she is both black and female.
After her brother is slain by police, Rebel soon becomes disillusioned with the system and is forced to take matters into her own hands and become a private investigator and a champion for her community.
Parker will play the role of Stella Parker, Rebel’s union-appointed attorney, who tries to do her best “lawyering” when Internal Affairs is tasked with investigating Rebel’s shooting of a fellow officer.
The show is produced by Mar Vista Entertainment for BET and co-written, executive produced and directed by Singleton. Dallas Jackson also serves as executive producer.
Parker was most recently seen in “People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” and Disney XD’s “Lab Rats: Elite Force.” She is represented by Prestige Talent Agency and Joel Stevens Entertainment.
