Audience Editor

The Audience Editor will lead the Audience team by writing, editing and helping plan SEO-driven and consumer-focused content about major new releases, tentpole events and evergreen franchises. The ideal Audience Editor is an expert in SEO with a data-driven mind, and is capable of writing high volumes of content around major releases. The ideal candidate is also extremely collaborative with an eye towards mentorship, and is frequently pitching new and unique coverage ideas.

Required skills:

  • At least 5 years experience writing about film, television and the entertainment landscape for professional outlets
  • Extremely high level of expertise in SEO, including adapting to evolving algorithms and finding new content strategies to drive traffic
  • Knowledge of content management systems and traffic dashboards
  • Expansive knowledge of entertainment, film and television

This is a Los Angeles-based position. Typical salary range for this role is $75,000 – $85,000.

Film Editor

TheWrap is seeking a highly skilled film editor with significant industry experience, connections and knowhow. The film editor should be ready to direct and tackle film and film industry news and reporting with a passion for the film business.

The ideal candidate is well-sourced, experienced, innately curious about the business of Hollywood and capable of steering a team of skilled writers and reporters towards stories that need to be told. A love of movies is a must.

The film editor will manage TheWrap’s coverage of the film industry, including major moves at the studios, breaking industry news, festival coverage and film reviews. This is a player/coach role and the film editor is expected to report and write stories alongside film reporters.

Your copy should be clean, clever and conversational.

Knowledge of AP style and love of a good headline is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, energetic and capable of multitasking in a real-time news environment.

This is a full-time position that is currently in a hybrid work-from-home model requiring two days per week in TheWrap’s Los Angeles office.

Required skills:

  • At least 5 years experience editing and writing about film for professional outlets. Management experience strongly preferred
  • Strong sourcing in the film industry
  • The ability to report out stories from scratch, including ideating, source-building and confirming scoops

Film Reporter

TheWrap is seeking a versatile film reporter with industry experience, connections and knowhow. The writer should be ready to tackle film and film industry news with a passion for the film business.

The ideal candidate is not someone who just waits around for an assignment (though there will certainly be plenty). You’re on the pulse of what’s in development, what’s in production and what’s coming up from the major studios, with a passion for digging into the how’s and why’s of filmmaking from both a business and creative perspective. A love of movies is a must.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, energetic and capable of multitasking in a real-time news environment, with a specific emphasis on covering the business of film and how decisions in Hollywood affect the film industry as a whole.

Politics Reporter

Leading Hollywood industry news organization TheWrap is seeking an experienced political news reporter for its Los Angeles newsroom. (Remote candidates out of New York City and Washington, D.C. will also be considered.)

The politics reporter will join our edit desk on a part-time basis and be expected to contribute breaking news reports as they relate to Capitol Hill’s cross section with Hollywood, as well as originally reported political and analysis features for our WrapPro subscription vertical. Creative Project Coordinator

TheWrap is seeking a talented Creative Project Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creativity and innovation, with experience in media and publishing and expertise in various design and multimedia tools like Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. The Creative Project Coordinator must have strong attention to detail, can multi-task and manage multiple projects at once, and have experience with organizational tools like Microsoft Word and Google Workspace (Google sheets, slides, docs, etc).

This is a Los Angeles-based position.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure delivery dates are met on time
  • Respond to all creative requests from internal departments, and oversee and track the creation of visual assets, videos, and other multimedia content
  • Assist the Design Director and creative team in day-to-day organizational tasks, create and maintain google sheets and docs
  • Create editorial map / flat plan for magazines, continue to update (often daily) as the pagination and schedule changes
  • Cut CMS images for magazine rollout
  • Create PDFs for PR teams and compile pdfs for magazine flipdoc / digital issue
  • Research external vendors needed for magazine and website and maintain correspondence

Controller

The Wrap News, Inc., the leading digital news organization covering the business of entertainment and media, is looking for a Controller who has the attention to detail and fortitude to handle day-to-day accounting, as well as the expertise and creativity required to analyze business results and identify areas for process and operational improvement. We need someone who isn’t afraid to be hands-on now and is also capable of leading a team as we grow.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Record all financial transactions of the company
  • Prepare, organize and help coordinate the monthly and annual closing process
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP 
  • Calculate and process monthly accrual and deferred expense journal entries 
  • Process payroll  
  • When necessary, work with customers and vendors to manage receivables, payables, and overall cash flow
  • Assist with the preparation and compilation of required internal and external reporting, financial results, trends and budget variances
  • Perform a detailed level review of the business operating results and statistics, comparing projected and prior month financial results 
  • Employ analytical, conceptual and creative thinking skills to improve overall business and reporting performance
  • Assist with the preparation of presentation materials aimed at executive staff and board members 
  • Prepare various ad hoc reports as needed 

Qualifications: 

  • Must be mathematical, analytical, and have strong attention to detail 
  • Advanced knowledge of Quickbooks,familiarity with Bill.com
  • Must have strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to interact effectively with business partners and all levels of management

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • 10 years accounting experience 
  • Strong computer literacy with Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills 
  • Deep knowledge of Quickbooks; familiarity with other accounting software 
  • Experience processing payroll through PayChex
