Jim Carrey Gives Bizarre, Existential Interview, and Twitter Loves It

“It’s not our world. We don’t matter. There’s the good news,” Carrey said in a red carpet interview with E!

Jim Carrey is rarely boring. But he took it to a previously unseen level last week at New York Fashion week, when the “Ace Ventura” star gave a red carpet interview to E! that at times resembled an ad hoc ecumenical debate about notions of celebrity and even existence itself. And Twitter is in love.

“There is no me. There are just things happening,” Carrey declared. “Here’s the thing. It’s not our world. We don’t matter. There’s the good news.”

The interviewer was perplexed that Carrey didn’t want to celebrate the “icons” that represented NYFW, and his response makes one wonder whether he was just trolling, was being brutally honest, or a bit of both.
