Lawyers for Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen tore up CNN Monday evening just hours after news broke that Daniels would sue Cohen for defamation.
“Let’s talk about Michael Cohen. What kind of man this is?” asked Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti. “The guy doesn’t even know the law. He’s a thug. Your friend is a thug. A thug. Thug. Thug. Thug. Thug.”
Cohen’s lawyer David Schwartz welcomed the barbs saying they were only increasing the final financial judgement they would collect from Daniels.
“Thank you, that’s a million dollars, a millions dollars, a million dollars,” he said.
Also on hand during the exchange was CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin, who stayed mostly silent. During an appearance on CNN’s “New Day” Tuesday, he described the feeling of witnessing the verbal battle as being awash in a certain male hormone.
“All the testosterone was washing over me,” he said to laugher on set. “I had to take a shower after.”
“There is a provision in the contract that suggests each violation is a million dollars, ” said Toobin, adding, “But we were in a silly zone there.”
On Monday Stormy Daniels upped the ante against Team Trump by announcing that she would sue longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen for defamation.
Daniels asserts that she had a consensual affair with Donald Trump back in 2006 and is now fighting to be released from an NDA she signed shortly before the election. Her legal team has argued that the agreement is null because Donald Trump didn’t sign it.
President Trump has denied that any affair ever took place.
