Jay Leno Returns to ‘Tonight Show’ to Rip Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton (Video)

Comedian who hosted NBC late-night show before Jimmy Fallon performs opening monologue

Jay Leno stopped by “The Tonight Show” on Wednesday to help Jimmy Fallon out with the night’s monologue.

Leno fell back into his old rhythm without missing a beat, and quickly rattled off a number of jokes about the current election cycle.

“Hillary Clinton says she is the most transparent candidate in modern history,” Leno said. “How many can see right through her?”

He also spread the humor around to Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders. A political science professor recently claimed that all of Trump’s speeches are done at a fifth grade level. “Today Trump said the professor who did the study was a ‘doody head,’” Leno said.

Sanders has been upset in the past because his fundraisers have raised less money than Clinton’s. “Well of course they didn’t,” Leno said. “Nobody wants to eat dinner at 4 o’clock in the afternoon.”

Leno hosted “The Tonight Show” from 1992-2009. He then briefly hosted “The Jay Leno Show,” which was canceled after one season. He returned to “The Tonight Show” from 2010-2014 before handing over the reigns to Fallon.
