Will outgoing White House Press Secretary Jay Carney be joining the ranks of CNN’s political pundits?
According to the Washington Post, several media outlets “have expressed an interest” in him and that CNN made him a “fine offer.”
Carney mentioned a future at CNN after challenging Fox News White House Correspondent Ed Henry to a debate.

As the Post noted, Carney invoked a future CNN gig last September. As recounted by the Wall Street Journal, the former journalist challenged Fox News White House Correspondent Ed Henry to debate the economy and said, “You and I, we’re going to do this on ‘Crossfire’ one day, I promise.”
CNN spokesperson told TheWrap that it could not “comment on speculation.”
Before replacing Robert Gibbs as Press Secretary in 2011 Carney served as the Washington Bureau Chief for Time Magazine.
He gave his last briefing as White House Press Secretary Wednesday.
