Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel spent a portion of his weekend doing Twitter battle with President Donald Trump’s son over the sexual misconduct scandal surrounding former Weinstein Company honcho Harvey Weinstein, giving Donald Trump Jr. a history lesson in his father’s own reported misconduct.
Trump Jr. engaged Kimmel, a frequent critic of his father’s, on Saturday, writing, “Thoughts on Harvey Weinstein?” and adding the hashtag, “#askingforafriend.”
“You mean that big story from the failing, liberal, one-sided @nytimes?” Kimmel replied, referring to the newspaper whose bombshell report led to Weinstein’s downfall. “I think it is disgusting.”
Trump Jr. might have taken that as a cue to drop the issue, but he decided to tap the glass again, responding to Kimmel, “Great I look forward to your monologues next week. You’re probably due for a change if only for a moment or two.”
That was probably a mistake, as Kimmel tweeted back,”great — in the meantime, enjoy this!”
The “this” Kimmel was referring to was a recording of the now-infamous conversation between Trump Sr. and then-“Access Hollywood” personality, during which Trump counseled Bush on women, telling him, “And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p—y. You can do anything.”
Weinstein was fired from The Weinstein Company on Sunday, following an investigative story published by the Times detailing three decades of sexual misconduct, including accusations that he propositioned actresses and harassed female employees.
