In its latest brazen attack, the group of hackers known as the Guardians of Peace have threatened the families of Sony Pictures employees in an email received on Friday.
“We understand that some of our employees have received an email claiming to be from GOP. We are aware of the situation and are working with law enforcement,” said a spokesperson from Rubenstein Communications, which recently started working with Sony PR staff to handle media inquiries regarding the hack attack.
A Sony insider told TheWrap that employees have been advised to turn off their handheld devices in lieu of the latest communication from GOP.
It’s unclear what GOP’s demands are, or what the organization wants — but Sony still plans to open its North Korea-set comedy “The Interview” on Christmas Day.
The email, which is full of typos and broken English, is below and unedited.
I am the head of GOP who made you worry.
