HBO has released the official trailer for the seventh season of “Game of Thrones,” and it teases the big war yet to come.
“Enemies to the east, enemies to the west, enemies to the south, enemies to the north. Whatever stands in our way — we will defeat it. We are the last Lannisters,” Queen Cersei (Lena Headey) says.
“I was born to rule to Seven Kingdoms, and I will,” Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) says.
“The Great War is here,” a voiceover says in the trailer.
“Game of Thrones” is set to return to HBO on July 16. The final two seasons — the seventh and eighth — will each be shorter than the typical 10-episode seasons we’ve seen for the past six years, as they’ll only have seven and six episodes each, respectively. And usually, the seasons kick off in the spring, but season 7 was announced to debut this summer.
The reason for the extra wait is due to a necessary shift in the shooting schedule for Season 7 — winter has arrived, and that means “Game of Thrones” needs more snow — and we’re not talking about Jon.
“Game of Thrones” also stars Sophie Turner, Kit Harington, Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Natalie Dormer and Gwendoline Christie.
