HBO has finally revealed what month (no, we don’t have an exact date yet) the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” will premiere.
The big news came quietly at the end of a new promo video, filled with clips from “GoT” seasons past, which the premium cable network dropped Tuesday. After watching the retrospective packed with old news, fans who stuck around till the very end of the short video would find a card that read “The Final Season, April 2019.”
The video launched as part of the kickoff for #FortheThrone, “a multi-phased, global marketing campaign that will unfold over the months leading into the final season.” Next up, “Game of Thrones” character posters that will drop via the show’s social media accounts later today. (So have fun obsessing over those all day.)
HBO says the final six episodes will be also promoted via “an event-level outdoor marketing presence” in both New York and Los Angeles, as well as a takeover of Grand Central Station, beginning on Nov. 27, “with over 150 variations of the #ForTheThrone creative and including a limited edition run of 250,000 metrocards.”
