Although “Game of Thrones” actor Kit Harington kept Jon Snow’s fate a secret from pretty much everyone who asked, he did spill the beans to a police officer — to get out of a speeding ticket.
Harington told Jimmy Fallon on Friday’s episode of “The Tonight Show” that when he was pulled over for “being a bit naughty and going over the speed limit,” the police officer gave Harington a choice.
“You can either follow me back to the police station now where I’ll book you in, or you can tell me whether you live in the next [season] of ‘Game of Thrones,’” Harington recalled.
The British actor laughed, but the cop was completely serious.
“I have to tell you, whether I take you into the police station depends on what your answer is,” the cop said. So, Harington responded, “I’m alive next season.”
In response, the die-hard “Game of Thrones” fan replied: “On your way Lord Commander. Keep the speed down this far south of the Wall.”
Since Jon Snow was butchered by his fellow Men of the Night’s Watch at the end of Season 5, speculation whether he would live or die circulated for almost a year. “Game of Thrones” cast members stayed mum on the subject, and Harington often declared that his character was in fact dead. But as Episode 2 of Season 6 revealed, Harington is more than just alive — he’s a changed man.
“Game of Thrones” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
