Sophie Turner was just as psyched as you were that Sansa Stark became a total badass in Season 6 of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”
“I kind of feel like the past five seasons has been leading up to that point for her,” the actress told TheWrap’s Steve Pond. “I’d always seen the potential in her and it just never felt like she quite reached her full potential. It was almost like a release when I was doing it, and I could finally show everyone her capabilities.”
After spending five seasons being a pawn and sometimes treated horribly in order to stay alive in the cutthroat political landscape of Westeros, Turner had an “inkling” that her character would overcome it all and thrive.
“I just thought, if she’d been killed off, what’s really been the point?” she laughed. “I just kinda had an inkling that she was going to do something great.”
Turner also has strong feelings about Sansa and brother-turned-cousin Jon Snow (Kit Harington) ruling Winterfell together, and reuniting with baby sister Arya (Maisie Williams).
“That’s probably top of my list, is Arya and Sansa getting back together,” she said. “I feel like it has to happen, but at the same time, if it did happen, would it be too obvious? Would it be too much of a good thing? Nothing that satisfactory happens on the show, because it’s ‘Game of Thrones,’ they want to make it dark and depressing and that’s what makes it amazing.”
