(WARNING: This post contains spoilers for season 7 of “Game of Thrones“)
Winter is coming in Europe, which means that it’s time for the cast and crew of “Game of Thrones” to get to work filming its penultimate season. Of course, that also means it’s time for paparazzi to get as many sneak peeks as possible into what’s happening on set, and one photographer captured the cameras rolling on a scene fans have been anticipating for a long time.
A photo posted by a French “GoT” fan site on Twitter shows a blurry image of two characters standing by the sea. One is a woman with white hair. The other is a man wearing a heavy winter coat. Indeed, it seems that fans will see the long-awaited meeting between Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow.

For years, fans have discussed the “R+L=J” theory, which claimed that Jon was not the bastard son of Ned Stark, as commonly believed, but in fact the son of Ned’s sister, Lyanna, and Rhaegar Targaryen. That means that Daenerys is not the only Targaryen in Westeros, and that she is about to come face-to-face with a nephew she doesn’t know she has.
Season 6 ended with Jon being crowned the new King In The North by the houses loyal to the Starks, while Daenerys finally set out with her dragons and armies to retake the Iron Throne from Cersei Lannister. No one currently involved in the ongoing war knows about the relationship between Jon and Dany, but it may soon play a role as Dany tries to figure out whether Jon will be an ally or an obstacle in her quest to become queen of the realm.
While the forthcoming encounter might not be too much a surprise to most fans, some “GoT” cast members aren’t happy about the spoiler-hungry paparazzi milling about their set. Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Dany’s interpreter Missandei, lamented those who were “determined to ruin Season 7.”
Emilia Clarke, meanwhile, had a more playful spin on the spoiler pics.
“Game of Thrones” returns to HBO next summer.
