Emilia Clarke is stirring the “Game of Thrones” coffee-cup-mistake pot.
The Mother of Dragons has spilled the tea about the rogue to-go cup of joe that appeared in front of her character, Daenerys Targaryen, on Sunday’s episode. Well, kinda.
“Did I just stumble upon the truth here?!” Clarke wrote on Instagram Thursday, alongside a photo of her and “GoT” co-star Peter Dinklage (who plays Tyrion Lannister) and her now-dead on-screen hubby, Jason Momoa (who played Khal Drogo). “The cup bearer does not drinketh the Starbucks tea… oh and this ain’t a spoiler just a lost wanderer coming home for a mid filming cuppa….??”? @prideofgypsies you so fire you make my hair turn blue.”
We’re not entirely sure what she’s getting at here, but she is wearing her costume from Sunday’s episode, “The Last of the Starks,” and holding what appears to be the cup in question in this shot and denying she’s at fault here.
A representative for the premium-cable channel told TheWrap Tuesday that the coffee cup that was not meant to make it into Episode 804, has been edited out of the version currently available on HBO Go. We’re told it will not be seen in any encore presentations going forward or in the episode that makes it into DVD sets, etc.
HBO got in on the joke Monday after viewers spotted the out-of-place to-go cup with this statement: “The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.”
In an email to media, the pay-TV channel referred to the to-go cup, which many assumed to be from Starbucks based on a somewhat-visible logo, as “a craft services coffee cup.”

“Game of Thrones” airs Sundays at 9/8c on HBO.
