HBO to Let People Watch ‘Game of Thrones’ Premiere for Free This Weekend

Premium cable network is trying to woo new subscribers with a 48-hour trial period coinciding with the premiere of its most popular show

No need to pirate the “Game of Thrones” Season 6 premiere this weekend, because HBO is offering a free preview of its programming between Friday and Monday.

The promotion, also timed to the premieres of Beyonce’s “Lemonade” and critically acclaimed comedy “Silicon Valley,” will give non-subscribers access to Cinemax, too.

Other programming highlights include the Pay-TV premiere of “Jurassic World,” the Season 4 premiere of “Veep,” and a new episode of “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.”

Audiences can also watch replays of Kerry Washington‘s “Confirmation” on Sunday at 12 p.m. PT. The film, also starring Wendell Pierce, aired originally on April 15.

Those without cable can can get a 30-day free trial of HBO any time they want by signing up for HBO Now, which will cost $15 a month after the trial period ends.
