“Saturday Night Live” writer John Mulaney has landed a series at Fox.
The networ has given a series order to a comedy starring Mulaney, the network said Wednesday.

The multi-camera comedy, which bears the working title “Mulaney” and will co-star Martin Short, will be based on Mulaney’s life. The New York-set series will star Mulaney as an aspiring comedian as he comes of age under the influence of his boss (played by Short), his roommates and his neighbors.
The project had previously been with NBC.
Mulaney, who came aboard “Saturday Night Live” in 2008, has served as a Weekend Update correspondent on the late-night series, and co-created characters such as Weekend Update city correspondent Stefon, who was portrayed by Bill Hader.
Mulaney, who created and is writing the series, will also serve as an executive producer. The series is being produced by Universal Television, “SNL” honcho Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video, and 3 Arts Entertainment. Michaels, David Miner, Dave Becky and Andrew Singer will also serve as executive producers.

Andy Ackerman (“The New Adventures of Old Christine,” “Seinfeld”) will direct the pilot episode.

Add in the comedy magic of Marty Short and the seasoned hand of Andy Ackerman, and I believe we have the makings of something really special here.”
