Fox News and Fox Business host Neil Cavuto returned to air on Tuesday after recovering from heart surgery earlier this summer.

“I wouldn’t wish what I’ve been through on anyone, even CNBC,” Cavuto joked about his former employer and FBN’s rival network during “Cavuto: Coast to Coast.”

The longtime Fox vet read sarcastic emails, thanked fans and even made fun of his hospital sock in his return to air before showing appreciation for the network staff who helped in his absence. His first day back on television was also his first day back at the office, where he is also a managing editor.

Cavuto has been off the air since May 31. The 57-year-old was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1997, and also successfully battled cancer. He is extremely well-liked among colleagues and was recently given a shout-out by Donald Trump during a rally.

Maria Bartiromo, Trish Regan and Stuart Varney filled in for Cavuto on Fox News during his recovery, while Connell McShane and Charles Payne have filled in for him on Fox Business.

Along with on-air credentials that include hosting “Your World With Neil Cavuto,” “Cavuto on Business” and “Cavuto: Coast to Coast,” he is the author of “More Than Money” and “Your Money or Your Life,” both of which were New York Times best sellers.
