Starz is ready to raise the dead once again, and the first teaser for “Ash vs Evil Dead” promises more bloody torture in store.
The original films featured unlucky teenagers who descend upon a weekend retreat in a woodland cabin, only to accidentally raise an evil spirit hellbent on one thing: torturing and killing them one by one in increasingly sadistic ways.
The Starz series will consist of a 10-episode first season premiering in the fall, and is currently in production in New Zealand.
The cast is led by Bruce Campbell, reprising the role of Ash Williams; Lucy Lawless as Ruby, a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks; Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick; Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past; and Jill Marie Jones as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper determined to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner.
Original filmmakers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, along with Campbell and Craig DiGregorio will executive produce, with DiGregorio also serving as showrunner. Raimi is directing the first episode of “Ash vs Evil Dead,” which he wrote with Ivan Raimi.
