“Empire” has cast Clarence Williams III in a guest-starring role for season two, TheWrap has learned exclusively.

Williams will play Huey Jarvis, a legendary music mogul and mentor to Lucious Lyon. Jarvis hosts a prestigious series of weekly “Living Room” shows, an appearance on which greatly boosts an artist’s chances of winning music’s top awards.

Williams is a well-known character actor with a career dating back to the 1960’s. He famously played Linc Hayes on the 1970’s TV series “The Mod Squad.” He also previously collaborated with “Empire” co-creator Lee Daniels on the 2013 movie “The Butler.”

He joins a growing list of guest stars for season two of the hit Fox series, which already includes Chris Rock, Ludaris, Mariah Carey, and Pitbull.

“Empire” smashed ratings records in its first season, with its season finale alone drawing in 17.62 million viewers during its initial airing.

“Empire” returns to Fox on Sept. 23 at 9/8c.
