“Downton Abbey” star Jessica Brown Findlay has landed the female lead alongside James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe in 20th Century Fox’s update of “Frankenstein,” an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.
Paul McGuigan is directing from a script by Max Landis, whose “Chronicle” collaborator John Davis is producing through his Davis Entertainment banner.
Landis’ screenplay, which is based on Mary Shelley’s 19th century novel, is described as a tale of friendship and redemption told from the perspective of Igor, who will be played by Radcliffe.
McAvoy will play Victor Von Frankenstein, while Brown Findlay is in talks to play Lorelei, a beautiful circus performer who forms a close bond with Igor.
The actress, who plays Lady Sybil Branson on “Downton Abbey,” will soon be seen opposite Colin Farrell in Akiva Goldsman’s directorial debut “Winter’s Tale.” She has also wrapped the indie drama “Lullaby” with Garrett Hedlund and Amy Adams.
Brown Findlay is repped by WME, Management 360 and Troika.
