Predictably, Donald Trump is not happy people are comparing his vote pledge to Adolf Hitler’s salute.
“It’s a terrible comparison,” he told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on “Good Morning America” Tuesday.”I’m not happy about that, certainly. I don’t want that comparison.”
Trump has been asking voters to raise their right hand and pledge to support him, resulting in an image that some have said resembles that of the rise of Adolf Hitler.
When asked by Stephanopoulos whether he should tone down his rhetoric, Trump said “maybe so.”
On Monday, Mexican president Peña Nieto compared Trump’s campaign tone to those of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini during their rises to power. Comedian Louis C.K. and Glenn Beck have also compared the real estate mogul to Hitler recently.
Trump was apparently unaware there was any discussion of the salute, telling Stephanopoulos,”I hadn’t heard that.”
