Disney Channel Orders Season 2 of ‘Liv and Maddie’

The hit tween series to premiere season two in fall

Disney Channel has ordered a second season of tween comedy series “Liv and Maddie,” to resume production in March, EVP of original programming Adam Bonnett announced on Monday.

The series has been a ratings success for the network — which does not sell commercial time — finishing 2013 number two among the key Kids 2-11 demographic (2.1 million/5.4 rating) and number three in Kids 6-11 (1.7 million/7.3 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.6 million/6.7 rating).

“Liv and Maddie” stars Dove Cameron as identical 16-year-old twin sisters Liv, a Hollywood star who has returned home to small-town Wisconsin, and tomboy Maddie, a high school basketball star. The series follows the girls as they navigate the trials and tribulations of high school, their family, and understanding each other. Season two of “Liv and Maddie” is scheduled to premiere in fall 2014.
