‘Dirty Dancing’ Remake Starring Abigail Breslin Set at ABC

Lionsgate TV behind three-hour event movie

The “Dirty Dancing” remake is back on and has been set to air on ABC, with Abigail Breslin landing the role of Baby, TheWrap has learned.

The new “Dirty Dancing,” from Lionsgate TV, is described as a three-hour event with filmed song and dance performances, adapted from the 1987 classic starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

The remake is executive produced by Allison Shearmur and Eleanor Bergstein, who wrote the screenplay for the original movie, with music from Adam Anders and Peer Astrom.

Jessica Sharzer wrote the adaptation, and Wayne Blair will direct.

The new adaptation is not related to the stage musical, “Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage” and is based solely on the film.

No word yet on when “Dirty Dancing” will air on ABC.
