This is more of a treat than a trick: Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl hosted “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night as legendary late-night personality David Letterman.
Completing the Halloween costume with a scraggly beard and a varsity jacket, Grohl performed the ABC show’s monologue and interview segments in-character, so to speak.
“It’s confusing, I get it — especially if you’re home right now watching, stoned to the bone,” Grohl said. “And just like Dave [Letterman], I’d like to announce my retirement from late-night TV. Yeah, this will be my final show — it’s been quite a ride.”
Kimmel is out all week, but that didn’t put a damper on Tuesday’s holiday. The rest of the Kimmel staff dressed up as musicians from the ’80s last night, when Grohl plugged Kimmel’s annual Halloween candy prank. Yeah, that’s very much alive.
