James Corden was grilled by Craig Ferguson on “The Late Late Show” Wednesday night. The outgoing host, in his last week as the host of the CBS late-night program, took a few moments to intimidate and joke around with his eventual replacement.
He circled Corden menacingly, asking him pointed questions like his full name and what he does for a living.
“I don’t do anything at the moment,” Corden replied. The English comedian came across as nervous, adorable and delighted to be there.
When asked if he was sure he wanted to take over the show, he replied, “I think it’s too late, Craig.”
The two bantered back and forth for a bit before Ferguson decided to give Corden some quick on-the-job training by having him throw to the commercial break.
“Even this is making my chest very tight,” Corden said, overwhelmed with anxiety. But after a quick pep talk, he totally nailed it.
