‘Code Black’ Renewed by CBS for Season 3

CBS has picked up another season of the medical drama about an understaffed L.A. emergency room

CBS has renewed medical drama “Code Black” for a third season, TheWrap has learned.

The medical series, which stars Marcia Gay Harden and follows the doctors at Angels Memorial Hospital as they try to treat an overwhelming number of patients despite a lack of staff and resources. The series was created by Michael Seitzman and also stars Raza Jeffrey, Bonnie Somerville, Melanie Chandra, William Allen Young, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Luis Guzman, Boris Kodjoe, Jillian Murray and Rob Lowe.

“Code Black” is the 19th series renewed by CBS, with “The Amazing Race” and “Elementary” renewed on Saturday. Other titles renewed include freshman shows “Bull,” “Kevin Can Wait,” “MacGyver,” “Man With a Plan” and “Superior Donuts.”

Long-running favorites such as all three iterations of “NCIS,” “Criminal Minds,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Blue Bloods” and “Hawaii Five-0” are also returning. Dramas “Scorpion” and “Madam Secretary,” along with comedies “Kevin Can Wait,” “Mom” “Life in Pieces” and “Man With a Plan” were also renewed.
