CNBC agreed on Friday to Donald Trump and Ben Carson’s demands that its upcoming GOP presidential debate be two hours and include opening and closing statements.
The Republican National Committee called campaigns to tell them the business network had caved.
“They said those conditions are ‘all but certain’,” CNN reported.
Trump and Carson penned a joint letter to the network threatening to boycott the Oct. 28 debate “if it is longer than 120 minutes, including commercials, and does not include opening and closing statements.”
The desire to keep the debate to two hours including commercials came after Trump and other candidates openly complained about CNN’s three-hour GOP debate on Sept. 16.
The Donald is happy about the news, and took to Twitter to share his glee.
.@CNBC has just agreed that the debate will be TWO HOURS. Fantastic news for all, especially the millions of people who will be watching!
