Chew on this, Sarah Sanders — you’ve been called out by Chrissy Teigen.
“Lip Sync Battle” personality took to Twitter over the weekend to call out White House press secretary Sanders, after Sanders complained of being refused service at the Red Hen restaurant in Virginia.
Sanders groused about the refusal of service on Saturday morning, writing that the owner sent Sanders packing because Sanders works for Trump.
“Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for @POTUS and I politely left,” Sanders wrote. “Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so.”
Sanders’ lament didn’t cook up much sympathy as far as Teigen was concerned, and Teigen let Sanders know as much.
“Didn’t you morons get your panties in a wad defending the baker that didn’t want to make cakes for gay couples?” Teigen wrote in response to the tweet.
That would be a reference to a Colorado baker who declined to create a cake for a same-sex wedding, a decision that the Supreme Court supported in a ruling earlier this month.
During a subsequent press briefing, Sanders said the White House was “very pleased” with the court’s decision.
“When it comes to the bakers, we were pleased with the Supreme Court’s decision. The First Amendment prohibits government discriminating against the basis of religious beliefs, and the Supreme Court rightly concluded that the Colorado Civil Rights Commission failed to show tolerance and respect for his religious beliefs,” Sanders said. “In this case and others, the Department of Justice will continue to vigorously defend the Free Speech and Religious Freedom First Amendment rights.”
Ouch. The Red Hen might have turned away Sanders, but it sounds like she’s getting served anyway, courtesy of Teigen. Maybe try the crow?
