CBS is launching a 24/7 over-the-top (OTT) app for Entertainment Tonight, the network announced on Wednesday.
Developed by CBS Interactive and CBS Television Distribution’s entertainment news magazine, ET Live will target entertainment superfans with live coverage of the day’s top stories.
The ad-supported service, which will run on a 24/7 cycle, will cover entertainment stories, breaking news, celebrity interviews, features, behind-the-scenes and red carpet coverage, as well as celebrity fashion, beauty and lifestyle trends.
The new service adds to the network’s growing slate of streaming products, which now includes its Netflix-like service CBS All Access, news platform CBSN, and CBS Sports HQ.
“We are dedicated to bringing consumers best-in-class streaming services,” said Rob Gelick, executive vice president and general manager, CBS Entertainment Digital for CBS Interactive. “ET Live is a natural expansion of our strategy and expertise in this area. We have the great advantage of being able to apply key learnings from our leading digital entertainment properties and marry that with the #1 entertainment brand in ‘Entertainment Tonight’ to create a new offering for the next generation of entertainment consumers, those that are platform agnostic and expect content to be accessible anytime, anywhere.”
ET Live isn’t intended to be an alternative to the “Entertainment Tonight” on-air broadcast. The streaming service will feature originally produced programming hosted by new talent including co-hosts Lauren Zima, Denny Directo, Cassie DiLaura, Tanner Thomason, Jason Carter and Melicia Johnson. “Entertainment Tonight” hosts Nancy O’Dell, Kevin Frazier, Nischelle Turner and Keltie Knight will regularly appear in segments the on-air broadcast.
ET Live is available online at ETLive.com, via Android and iOS devices through the ET Live app, on Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV. The service will also be integrated into the CBS All Access subscription service’s live feed, giving users the ability to toggle between their live local CBS feed, CBSN and ET Live’s coverage
