Bruce Willis has signed on to lead Benaroya Pictures’ thriller “Wake,” to be directed by John Pogue.
International Film Trust is selling international rights to the film in Berlin, while CAA is handling domestic rights.
Set to start shooting in Cleveland, Ohio on Feb. 16, “Wake” tells the story of Red Forrester (Willis), a sociopath with no fear who returns to his childhood home on a remote island for his brother’s wake. When the island comes under siege, Red must save the very family that banished him from his ancestral home years ago.
Michael Benaroya is producing alongside Tobin Armbrust, David Alpert and Chris Cowles.
“With a history of writing suspenseful and tension driven films, John Pogue is an imposing director to watch and we are really excited to be working on ‘Wake’ with him and Bruce – who, himself, is a force to be reckoned with,” said Benaroya in a statement.
Best known for the “Die Hard” franchise, Willis will next be seen in Barry Levinson’s “Rock the Kasbah” opposite Bill Murray and Zooey Deschanel. He is represented by CAA.
Pogue, who last directed Hammer horror “The Quiet Ones,” is repped by Circle of Confusion and Verve.
