“The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Maya Avant is a man, baby — and the revelation has thrown social media into quite the tizzy.
Wednesday’s cliffhanger episode on the CBS soap sent jaws dropping across the Twitterverse, after it was revealed that Maya (played by Karla Mosley) is actually named Myron.
As reported by We Love Soaps, the big reveal came when Maya had a faceoff with her sister Nicole (portrayed by Reign Edwards).
“You’re not my sister, Maya. You’re not Maya at all,” Nicole informed her sibling. “You’re Myron, my brother.”
The gender switcheroo sent fans rushing to their Twitter accounts with swift and strong reactions, pushing “Maya” onto the list of U.S. Twitter trends.
“…Myra was Myron? Really? Really really? Wow. What? Wow. #BoldandBeautiful,” wrote one fan.

Mosley herself acknowledged the outpouring on her Twitter account, promising, “more to come.”
