Bleecker Street Lands Rachel Weisz, Tom Wilkinson Holocaust Drama ‘Denial’

Mick Jackson directs the adaptation of Deborah E. Lipstadt’s book about a woman proving existence of the genocide

Bleecker Street Films has landed North American rights to Mick Jackson’s holocaust drama “Denial.”

Rachel Weisz, Tom Wilkinson and Timothy Spall star in the Participant Media adaptation of Deborah E. Lipstadt’s acclaimed non-fiction account.

“Mick Jackson’s film will recount this incredible, unbelievable story of two people pitted against each other in a battle over truth, history and integrity,” said Andrew Karpen, CEO of Bleecker Street. “With David Hare’s exhilarating script combined with Rachel Weisz and Tom Wilkinson leading the cast, I’m so proud to be bringing this film to audiences next year.”

Lipstadt’s book, “History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier,” tells of her legal battle for historical truth against David Irving, who accused her of libel when she declared him a Holocaust denier.

Producers include Gary Foster and Russ Krasnoff of Krasnoff/Foster Entertainment and Shoebox Films. Participant developed the project with BBC Films, who also serve as co-financiers. Cornerstone Films is handling international sales and distribution.
