Amy Poehler is in negotiations to join Will Ferrell in New Line’s comedy “The House,” which follows a married couple who teams up with their neighbors to start an illegal casino in their basement after they lose their daughter’s college fund.

Andrew J. Cohen is directing from a script he co-wrote with his “Neighbors” collaborator Brendan O’Brien.

Ferrell and Adam McKay are producing under their Gary Sanchez banner along with Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake of Good Universe. O’Brien is also producing the film, which is slated to start production this summer in Los Angeles.

Poehler will soon be heard as the lead voice of Joy in Pixar’s “Inside Out,” and she next stars opposite Tina Fey in Universal’s comedy “Sisters.”

She’s represented by WME, 3 Arts Entertainment and Sloane Offer.
