AMC has renewed its new Western drama “The Son” for a second season.
The drama based on Philipp Meyer’s bestselling novel of the same name is currently airing its first season.
“The Son” was ordered straight-to-series, with 10 hour-long episodes set to air in 2017. It is described as a multi-generational epic telling of the story of America’s birth as a superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas family.

It stars Pierce Brosnan, Henry Garrett, Zahn McClarnon, Paola Nunez and Sydney Lucas.
The series from AMC Studios and Sonar Entertainment is written and executive produced by Meyer, Lee Shipman, Brian McGreevy and showrunner Kevin Murphy. Jenna Glazier will produce for Sonar.
