Alyson Hannigan Is a Heartbroken Shell of a Woman in ‘The McCarthys’ Sneak Peek (Exclusive Video)

The “How I Met Your Mother” alum drops in on CBS’s freshman comedy “The McCarthys” on Thursday, and from the looks of TheWrap‘s exclusive sneak peek, her character isn’t having the best time. In fact, she’s a weepy, shambling mess of a thing.

On the episode, Hannigan plays Pam, a tenant of Marjorie (Laurie Metcalf) and Arthur (Jack McGee). As it turns out, she’s also neck-deep in tears after her boyfriend — who she thought was going to propose to her — breaks the relationship off.

“I wanted to give you my January rent in case I’m crying too hard to come down and give it to you later,” Hannigan tells Jack, before spilling her tale of woe.
