Alfonso Ribeiro is returning to “Dancing with the Stars” on Monday to co-host the show with Erin Andrews while Tom Bergeron takes the night off to spend time with his ailing father.
Bergeron took to Twitter on Sunday to make the announcement: “I’ll miss 2morrow’s #dwts to be at my Dad’s bedside. He’s given me a lifetime of support. Time to return the favor,” he wrote, along with a photo of him sitting on his father’s lap as a boy.
Ribeiro, who was the show’s Season 19 champion, previously returned to “DWTS” as a guest judge last week. It’s not his first time replacing Bergeron as a host, either. In May, the former “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” actor took over as host of “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”
“I will be there with a heavy heart for my friend Tom and the Bergeron family,” Ribeiro wrote on his Facebook Sunday.
“Dancing with the Stars” airs Monday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
