A&E’s new drama series “The Returned” will premiere on March 9 immediately following the Season 3 premiere of “Bates Motel,” the network announced on Friday.
“The Returned,” executive produced by “Bates Motel” EP Carlton Cuse and Raelle Tucker (“True Blood”), is based on an Emmy-award winning French series, which was adapted by Fabrice Gobert from feature film, “Les Revenants,” directed by Robin Campillo.
The series focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people, who have been long presumed dead, suddenly reappear. Their return brings both positive and detrimental consequences.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead (“Smashed”), Mark Pellegrino (“Lost”) , Jeremy Sisto (“Six Feet Under”) and India Ennenga (“Treme”) are among the drama’s ensemble cast.
A+E Studios and FremantleMedia North America are producing the show in association with Haut et Court TV SAS, the producer of the French series, for A&E Network. Thom Beers, Craig Cegielski and Stefanie Berk are executive producing for FremantleMedia North America.
“Bates,” a “Psycho”-inspired series starring Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore, will air Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, followed by “Returned” at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
