ABC Family has added actor Jade Hassouné in a recurring role on its “Shadowhunters” series, the network announced Tuesday.
Hassouné will play the role of Meliorn opposite a cast led by Katherine McNamara and Dominic Sherwood, which also includes Harry Shum Jr., Alan Van Sprang, Alberto Rosende, Emeraude Toubia, Isaiah Mustafa and Matthew Daddario.
“Shadowhunters,” the straight-to-series adaptation of the “Mortal Instruments” series of YA novels by Cassandra Clare, will follow 18-year-old Clary, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is, but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters — human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting.
Meliorn is described as a handsome and elegant fairy, also known as a Seelie, a creature that is equal parts angel and demon.
“Shadowhunters” is produced by Constantin Film and executive produced by Ed Decter and McG, who will also direct the first episode.
Hassouné is represented by Glenn Talent Management.
